The Mero Development Area recorded a production record in March, since the beginning of the historical series, with a daily average of approximately 44 thousand barrels of oil. The three contracts together produced 59,000 bpd on the daily average, including 10,000 bpd from the surroundings of Sapinhoá and 6,000 bpd from Tartaruga Verde Sudoeste. The total result was 16% higher than in February.

The daily average of the Union's total oil surplus was 12,300 bpd, of which 6,700 bpd in the Mero Development Area and 5,600 bpd in the Surrounding of Sapinhoá, in the three production sharing contracts. In Tartaruga Verde Sudoeste, the Union oil surplus is being used to settle the Settlement of Accounts with the operator, arising from the redetermination of the AIP (Production Individualization Agreement). Overall, there was an increase of 7% over the previous month. The accumulated share, since 2017, the beginning of the historical series, is 8.7 million bpd.

Natural gas

Total production registered a daily average of 286 thousand m³ / day in the two contracts with commercial use of natural gas, with 244 thousand m³ / day in the CPP of the Surrounding of Sapinhoá and 42 thousand m³ / day in the CPP of Tartaruga Verde Sudoeste. In comparison with the previous month, the volume of available gas increased by 4.15%.

The daily average of the total surplus in natural gas was 144 thousand m³ / day, referring only to the Entorno de Sapinhoá contract, which showed a reduction of 4% in relation to the previous month. In Tartaruga Verde Sudoeste, the Union gas surplus is also being used to settle the Settlement of Accounts with the operator, arising from the redefinition of the AIP. The natural gas produced in Mero, with a high CO2 content, is being injected into the reservoir for an effective increase in oil production. So far, there is no forecast for its commercialization.

First quarter results

The first quarter of 2021 was the second best in the historical series of the Union oil surplus, accumulating a share of almost 1.0 million barrels (988.5 thousand bbl). The best quarter was the third quarter of 2019, with just over 1.0 million barrels (1,042,564 bbl). Oil production in the three contracts totaled almost 5.0 million barrels (4.7 MMbbl).

With this result, from the beginning of production in the sharing regime until March 2021, the cumulative total of oil production amounts to 52.3 million barrels, of which 8.7 million barrels correspond to the accumulated total of the Union oil surplus , that is, about 16.6% of this accumulated production was converted into a portion of the Union that has been commercialized by PPSA. The data are part of the Monthly Bulletin of Production Sharing Contracts prepared by Pré-Sal Petróleo (PPSA).
