The ANP Collegiate Board approved, on this date, the quality control of the biomethane produced by GNR Dois Arcos, located in the municipality of São Pedro da Aldeia, RJ, whose plant has a production capacity of 10,000 m3 / day.

The approval is the first, after the publication of ANP Resolution No. 685/2017, which regulates the quality of bio-methane from landfills and sewage treatment plants.

With the approval, the biomethane increases the gas supply to be injected into the distribution network.

Currently, the legislation of the State of Rio de Janeiro requires that the concessionaires of piped gas distribution be obliged to compulsorily acquire all the Renewable Natural Gas - GNR, offered in the State.

Biomethane is a renewable fuel and represents a better use of existing waste in landfills already being used in other countries such as the United States, United Kingdom, Germany and the Netherlands.
