At 00:32 on August 24, 1919, the ANP was notified of a structural failure in an offshore installation out of operation since June 2018. The Rio de Janeiro City FPSO, which is located in the Espadarte Field, Campos Basin, is in the decommissioning phase and was disconnecting the risers, when it was identified the increase in volume of two tanks. Subsequently, divers identified five cracks in the facility's hull.
The technicians working at the site left the unit, and a company specializing in vessel stability is assessing the situation. The FPSO must be moved to perform site repairs.
There are currently 04 support vessels and 07 pollution control vessels in the region to disperse the 6.6 m³ oil slick, which was identified in the last overflight, held at 15:30 on Monday, 26/08/08. 2019.
The ANP has been monitoring the emergency response since August 24, 1919, and has instituted a crisis room, together with the Navy and IBAMA, to oversee the progress of actions taken by Petrobras to mitigate possible impacts.
