The ANP Board approved yesterday (10/21) the creation of a working group (WG) to assess possible incentives for fields and accumulations with marginal economy. The WG will be interdisciplinary, formed by technicians from 11 areas of the Agency.

The definition and classification of fields and accumulations of oil and natural gas that present economy or marginal production are provided for in a draft resolution currently under public consultation and hearing by the ANP (Public Consultation and Hearing No. 17/2021: https:// www.gov.br/anp/pt-br/assuntos/consultas-e-audiencias-publicas/consulta-audiencia-publica/consulta-e-audiencia-publicas-17-2021.

The initiative aims to maximize the recovery of in situ resources from the reservoirs, by promoting the adequate monetization of existing reserves.

The subject has been studied by the ANP since 2018, from the Tomada Pública de Contribuições (TPC) No. 08/2018 (https://www.gov.br/anp/pt-br/assuntos/consultas-e-audiencias- publicas/tomada-publica-de-contribuicoes/2018/tomada-publica-de-contribuicoes-no-8-2018), and the creation of the WG meets the guidelines of the National Energy Policy Council (CNPE) provided for in the CNPE Resolution No. 4/2020. In addition, it meets the objectives of Reate and Promar, federal government programs to encourage, respectively, onshore and offshore fields.
