The Program for Revitalization and Incentive to the Production of Maritime Fields (Promar), of the Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME), was launched this Thursday, 03/11, in an online event. The launch was attended by Eduardo Eugenio Gouvêa Vieira (photo), president of Firjan and ONIP's Deliberative Council; the Minister of Mines and Energy, Admiral Bento Albuquerque; MME's Secretary of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels, José Mauro; of federal deputies for the state of Rio, mayors and representatives of the ANP, EPE and the state government.

“Promar is a milestone, an immediate response by the federal government to the anguish of Brazilian society of the greatest urgency, which is the transformation of our oil and gas assets into wealth, with encouragement for the maintenance of direct jobs, which will help to alleviate the social imbalance in the country. Everyone will benefit: Union, states and society ”, said Eduardo Eugenio.

In addition to promoting the extension of the useful life of mature marine oil and natural gas fields, Promar aims to increase the recovery factor of areas in production in the post-salt, currently 22% for oil and 30% for natural gas, indexes inferior to international experiences. The revitalization represents the continuity of the collection of government participation, job creation and maintenance of the local goods and services industry, improving the business environment and promoting the economic and social development not only of the directly affected locations, but of the entire Brazilian society.

“Our commitment is to invest in improvements in public policies. Promar is national in scope, but of particular relevance to Rio de Janeiro, where most of these fields are concentrated. We are going to improve the conditions of economic use of these areas, extracting the largest possible volume of resources, and increase the attractiveness of investments ”, affirmed Minister Albuquerque.

Through an open public consultation in January, producers, suppliers, public agencies and institutions like Firjan presented suggestions on the main challenges faced in the exploration and production of mature maritime fields. Promar's next steps include holding a first workshop, on April 15th and 16th, and forwarding suggestions sent by the public consultation for evaluation by the competent bodies. A second workshop is scheduled for June.
