The first day of Bahia Oil and Gas 2025 brought together key figures from Brazil’s oil and gas production chain for a dynamic and strategic agenda focused on the sector's outlook amid the ongoing transformation of the country’s energy landscape. The event, taking place in Salvador, began on Tuesday, May 28, and reached its highlight during the opening ceremony held from 6:00 to 7:00 PM in the One Energy plenary, featuring institutional speeches and high-level presentations.

The ceremony was opened by Nicolás Honorato, event organizer, who emphasized the initiative’s purpose as a platform for connection and sectoral strengthening. “Bahia Oil and Gas was born with the mission to bring leaders together, foster business opportunities, and elevate the Northeast’s role in Brazil’s energy leadership. We are building a qualified space for dialogue, innovation, and collaboration for the future of the industry,” he said.

Márcio Félix, President of ABPIP, was also a highlight of the ceremony, reinforcing the role of independent companies in this new cycle of investment. “This moment demands courage, integration, and clarity of purpose. The Northeast—and Bahia in particular—can lead this new phase of onshore production revitalization in Brazil,” Félix stated.

The opening keynote was delivered by Anabal Santos Júnior, a renowned consultant and national reference in downstream and regulation. His speech delivered sharp insights into the industry’s current challenges. “We need to build an energy governance model that offers predictability to investors and security to consumers. Regulatory, commercial, and energy pressure issues have stalled the sector, and it’s crucial that the industry takes the lead in these discussions,” he asserted. Anabal also highlighted the creation of a dedicated onshore forum, already operational, aimed at fostering concrete progress with regulatory authorities.

José Firmo, President of PetroReconcavo, also took part in the opening, underscoring the importance of technological innovation and local content. “We must recognize that Brazilian onshore has its own economic vocation. It’s time to invest in regional solutions, local workforce, and operational intelligence,” he noted.

Representing Petrobras, Stenio Jaime Galvão emphasized the company’s commitment to energy transition and decarbonization. “We are investing not only in efficient production but also in alternatives that prepare the sector for the future. Petrobras aims to be a key player in transforming Brazil’s energy matrix,” he said.

Other institutional speakers also marked the opening ceremony, including representatives from the Bahia state government, technical entities, and academia. The overall tone was one of cautious optimism, with a strong focus on sustainability, innovation, and the Northeast's consolidation as a pillar of Brazil’s energy development.

Bahia Oil and Gas 2025 continues in the coming days with technical panels, roundtables, and business meetings—solidifying its place as one of the most important showcases for the sector in Brazil.
