Bahia is present at the 2nd International Forum of Green Hydrogen, in addition to composing the table at the opening ceremony, the Secretariat of Economic Development (SDE) of the State of Bahia participated in the panel 'Hubs of Green Hydrogen for Brazil' this Tuesday ( 04), in Sorocaba, in the state of São Paulo. Leader in the generation of wind and solar energy, Bahia bets on the fuel of the future for the development of an economy with a lower carbon footprint and by the end of 2023, it will house the first hydrogen and green ammonia plant in Brazil, in the Industrial Pole from Camaçari.

“One of the main highlights of Bahia in relation to other states is that we have an institutional and legal framework in the form of two decrees. Both are exclusive to our state, no other state in Brazil has them. One institutes the State Plan for the Economy of Green Hydrogen in Bahia and the other exempts companies from ICMS on the purchase of electricity generated from renewable sources intended for the production of hydrogen and green ammonia. These are Bahia's differentials that, in addition to the systemic and natural advantages, provide legal certainty to entrepreneurs who want to invest in Bahia", explains Roberto Fortuna, executive secretary of the Special Commission for the Implementation of Green Hydrogen and coordinator of Promotion of the Energy Industry Renewables.

The presidency and executive secretariat of the Special Commission for the Implementation of Green Hydrogen are under the SDE and count with the participation of the Infrastructure Secretariat (Seinfra), Environment Secretariat (Sema), Science, Technology and Innovation Secretariat (Secti ) and the Institute for the Environment and Water Resources (INEMA). The commission has already set up two subcommittees, one on Science and Technology and Innovation and is preparing to sign a memorandum of understanding with all universities in the state; the Market Development subcommittee is discussing the elaboration of a Cooperation Agreement with the Institute of Applied Economic Research (IPEA).

SDE is also conducting a survey with companies in the Camaçari Industrial Complex to assess demand. Fortuna draws attention that Bahia is the only state concerned with the analysis of demand, the use of Green Hydrogen and derivatives. “We are also preparing, together with the Planning Department, a Program for the Green Hydrogen Economy of Bahia, which should be included in the Multi-Year Plan (PPA) 2024/2027, which will guarantee four more years for the consolidation of these activities in the state. ", ends.
