Brazil's oil output was 2.5 million barrels per day in April, 10.9% up from April 2016. Compared to March this year, it was 0.4% smaller. The data were released Thursday (June 1) by the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) in Rio de Janeiro.

Natural gas production reached 103 million cubic meters per day (m³d), 7.1% up from the same month of 2016 and 1.2% up from March 2017.

This amounted to a total 3.184 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (oil and natural gas).

Pre-salt

Despite accounting for a current 47.5% of the country's total oil equivalent output, pre-salt oil and natural gas production slipped 0.2% in April compared to March. According to the ANP, 1.496 million barrels of oil equivalent per day were produced in the pre-salt region.

The 75 pre-salt wells produced about 1.207 million barrels of oil per day and 45.9 million cubic meters of natural gas per day (m³d).
