Brazilian oil production grew 7.8% in 2019, reaching the mark of 2.8 million barrels / day. According to the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), the increase was led by the supply of pre-salt oil, which reached an average of 1.7 million barrels / day in the year, which corresponded to about 62.3% of the country's production.

Natural gas production rose 9.5% in 2019, marking the tenth consecutive year of increase, reaching 123 million cubic meters / day. In the pre-salt area, natural gas production continued to increase its share of the national total, corresponding to 57.9%.

At the global level, oil production was led by the United States, with 17.045 million barrels per day, an increase of 10.97% in relation to 2018. Next, Saudi Arabia appears, with production of 11.832 million barrels and a decrease of 3 , 50%; and Russia, with 11.540 million barrels / day, an increase of 0.89% over the previous year.

The data appear in the Brazilian Statistical Yearbook of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels 2020, which brings the evolution of the oil, natural gas and biofuels sector in 2019, in Brazil and worldwide. The yearbook was published today (30) by the ANP on its portal.

Biofuels

In the biofuels sector, biodiesel production exceeded the total registered in 2018 by 10.3%, mainly due to the increase in the mixture content in diesel oil from 10% to 11%. Ethanol production was 6.9% higher than in 2018, reaching the historic mark of 35.3 billion liters. As a result of the increase in production, sales of hydrous ethanol grew 16.3% in 2019, in view of the greater competitiveness of the prices of this fuel in relation to gasoline C.

Due to the increase in domestic production, oil exports reached the highest value in the historical series last year: 1.2 million barrels / day, an annual increase of 4.4%. Oil imports, on the other hand, grew only 1.7%, according to the ANP.

The national production of oil products showed stability in 2019, reaching 1.8 million barrels / day, equivalent to 76.5% of the installed refining capacity. Sales of oil products by distributors, in turn, increased 0.7%, highlighting sales of diesel oil, up 3%.

Bindding

The bidding rounds for areas for oil and gas exploration and production in Brazil were another highlight last year, according to the ANP. The 16th Bidding Round under the concession regime, held in October 2019, raised more than R $ 8.9 billion in signature bonuses, while the 6th Sharing Round and the Bidding Surplus Bidding Round together collected approximately of R $ 75 billion. Last year, ANP also carried out the 1st Permanent Offer Cycle, whose collection reached R $ 22.3 million in subscription bonuses.

In 2019, the volume of obligations under the clause of the concession, sharing and onerous assignment contracts, related to investments in research, development and innovation (RD&I) reached R $ 1.9 billion. The amount generated by government stakes amounted to R $ 56 billion in 2019, an increase of 5.6% in relation to the previous year.

The tables, tables, graphs, cartograms and texts will be published later in the Brazilian Statistical Yearbook of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels 2020 and can be consulted on the ANP website.
