The Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil) started its participation this Monday, May 2, at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) 2022, in Houston, USA. This year, the Brazil Pavilion has 42 national oil and gas companies.

From May 2nd to May 5th, exhibitors will have the opportunity to present technology and products to thousands of attendees from over 130 countries, including industry leaders, investors, buyers and entrepreneurs. There are smart solutions ranging from artificial intelligence (AI) monitoring to innovative technological fixes to tackle corrosion, advanced geological and petrophysical analysis, among other methodologies.

In addition, there are ongoing business meetings with partner institutions, such as the Energy Research Company (EPE), the Brazilian Institute of Oil and Gas (IBP), the National Agency of Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP), Petrobras and the Federation of Industries of the State of Rio de Janeiro (FIRJAN).

As one of the largest trade shows held annually in the US, OTC offers industry professionals the valuable opportunity to develop lasting business partnerships and learn about the latest advances, challenges and opportunities in the oil and gas industry.

Brazil is today one of the 10 largest oil producers/exporters in the world. In addition, the country offers opportunities in the renewable energy sectors, which represents 48% of the country's energy structure, as well as auctions in the coming months and years for Brazil's exclusive pre-salt layer. Brazil has intensified government and business partnerships to promote a well-diversified portfolio of natural gas, downstream infrastructure projects (ports, refineries, etc.), and supply chain opportunities.

Opportunities

At the opening ceremony, the Consul General of Brazil in Houston, Maria Izabel Vieira, highlighted that Brazil has a privileged position in the OTC. The director of the ANP, Rodolfo Saboia, reinforced the importance of the OTC as a “showcase of opportunities”. According to him, Brazil is already one of the largest producers in the world, but it will continue to grow, generating more income, royalties and jobs.

ApexBrasil worked on a portfolio of opportunities to present to investors at OTC. After all, oil and gas form a priority sector for the Agency and for Brazil. In recent months, structural government reforms have been implemented to maximize the 149 state and federal auctions and concessions available this year. This is over US$47 billion with the introduction of the Open Acreage process, which is a special way of acquiring exploratory blocks and mature fields to ensure the continued exploration of blocks and areas.

In addition, the Brazilian Petroleum Partnerships (BPP) program fosters partnerships between Brazilian and foreign oil and gas companies, promoting the integration of Brazil into the global supply chain.
