For the first time in its history, the Búzios field surpassed an average natural gas export rate of 10 million m³/d in a single month. The 10.8 million m³/d achieved in July consolidates the field's growth trajectory and reinforces the operational reliability of its platforms in continuously supplying gas to the Brazilian market.

The previous monthly record was set in March 2026, at 9.1 million m³/d. The current milestone was also accompanied by a new daily export record. On 6 August, Búzios reached 14.1 million m³/d, surpassing the previous record of 13.9 million m³/d, set in July.

In July 2024, the field's average daily export rate was 4.7 million m³/d. Since then, the start-up of Route 3 and the implementation of new projects have supported the continued growth of gas exports from Búzios.

The increase is not the result of new production systems coming on stream, but rather of the optimisation of existing units. Among the main initiatives is the programme to modernise the gas treatment plants on platforms P-74, P-75, P-76 and P-77, including the replacement of the CO₂ removal membranes. Launched in 2025 and now in the final stages of implementation, the project has increased the export capacity of these units from approximately 1.5 million to 3 million m³/d per platform, with the potential to reach even higher levels following additional process adjustments. The FPSO Almirante Barroso has also contributed to the results achieved.

Gas export capacity will continue to expand over the coming years, with the systems planned for platforms P-78 and P-79 scheduled to come on stream by 2027. By the end of the field's development, eight of the 12 planned platforms will have gas export capacity, including the Búzios 12 unit, which is scheduled to start operations in 2032 and will have an estimated capacity of 5.5 million m³/d.

The results reinforce the growing importance of Búzios not only as one of the country's largest oil-producing assets, but also as one of the main pillars of natural gas supply to the Brazilian market, combining continuous gains in capacity, operational efficiency and associated gas monetisation.
