Campo Grande will be the center of discussions on renewable energy for four consecutive days in September. The capital will host, on the 15th and 16th, the Bio Energy Summit 2026 and, right after, on the 17th and 18th, the Regional Forum on Distributed Generation Midwest (Fórum Regional de Geração Distribuída Centro-Oeste). Both events are promoted by Grupo FRG Mídias & Eventos.

The program will bring together experts, entrepreneurs, investors, authorities, academics and representatives of industry and agribusiness. While the first event will focus the debates on biogas, biomethane and biofuels, the second will address the distributed generation market, with emphasis on solar energy, regulation, financing and plant performance.

Holding the events in sequence aims to bring together the different segments involved in the energy transition and expand business opportunities in the sector. Mato Grosso do Sul was chosen for combining diversified agricultural production, biomass availability and the expansion of investments in renewable sources.

Director of Grupo FRG Mídias & Eventos, Tiago Fraga, says the events were planned to connect the State's productive potential to the companies, technologies and funding sources needed to turn clean energy projects into new ventures.

"Mato Grosso do Sul combines the conditions to move forward on different fronts of the energy transition, from using agribusiness waste to produce biogas and biomethane to expanding solar generation. By holding the two events in sequence, we want to integrate these chains, bring together those who develop technology and those who invest and produce, and create an environment capable of turning knowledge into projects and business," he highlights.

The Bio Energy Summit 2026 will discuss the use of agro-industrial waste, the large-scale production of renewable fuels, the modernization of the energy market and the investment opportunities opened up by the economy's decarbonization process.

Among the main topics are the production of biogas and biomethane from waste from pig farming, poultry farming and the sugarcane-energy sector, as well as the advancement of biofuels derived from sugarcane and corn. The proposal is to show how materials once treated as environmental liabilities can be used to generate energy, reduce emissions and create new sources of revenue.

According to data from the Brazilian Biogas Association (ABiogás), Brazil has the theoretical potential to produce 120 million cubic meters of biogas per day and already has more than 1,600 plants in operation. The sector expects the expansion of biomethane, a fuel obtained from the purification of biogas that can replace fossil sources in heavy-duty vehicles, machinery and industrial processes.

The Bio Energy Summit has the support of the Bioenergy Producers Association of Mato Grosso do Sul (Biosul) and the Regional Council of Engineering and Agronomy of Mato Grosso do Sul (Crea-MS). In addition to the technical panels, there will be spaces dedicated to networking among companies, investors and producers.

32nd GD Midwest Forum

On September 17 and 18, the Regional Forum on Distributed Generation Midwest will continue the energy agenda. The meeting will focus on the challenges and opportunities of the solar energy market and other renewable sources, with lectures, panels and debates among professionals working at different stages of the chain.

The program will address the new distributed generation regulation in Brazil, the criteria for financing solar systems, the efficiency and maintenance of photovoltaic plants, the safety of installations and the use of energy storage technologies.

Also to be discussed are the number of connections and the installed capacity in Mato Grosso do Sul, Mato Grosso, Goiás and the Federal District, as well as the role of engineering and technical responsibility in the sector's growth. Other panels will address the integration between environmental licensing and the energy transition, the adoption of renewable sources in agribusiness and the commercial strategies for companies operating in distributed generation and the free energy market.

The event will feature representatives from public institutions, professional bodies, universities, technology companies, financial institutions and organizations linked to the solar sector. The program also includes debates on sustainability, mobility, hybrid generation systems, battery storage and the professionalization of the market.

For Tiago Fraga, the sequence of events allows the energy transition to be analyzed more broadly, bringing together everything from the production of renewable fuels to the generation of energy at the point of consumption.

"It is not enough to discuss only the technology. The market needs to understand the rules, find financing, qualify professionals and build partnerships so that projects move forward. The proposal is to offer technical content and, at the same time, create connections that help companies and investors make safer decisions in a sector undergoing rapid change," he concludes.
