On his second day at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Brazil’s Minister of Economy Paulo Guedes participated today (May 24) in a panel on the economic recovery of countries facing the challenges of the current international situation.

In his address, Guedes said Brazil will move forward with its agenda of changes by digitizing services, streamlining regulatory frameworks, privatizing state assets, and attracting foreign investment.

Guedes also took part in several bilateral meetings with executives from multinational companies—including Van Acker, executive director for Emerging Markets at Merck, a German company in the chemical, pharmaceutical, and life sciences industry; and Michael Evans, president of Alibaba, a China-based e-commerce group.

In addition, the Brazilian minister spoke at a lunch with investors about the economic reform agenda promoted in recent years in Brazil and investment opportunities in the country, especially in the renewable energy, education, and health sectors.

According to the Ministry of Economy, Guedes noted that fiscal results have been positive, despite the challenging landscape, adding that the flow of foreign trade maintains its upward trajectory.

Yesterday (23), Guedes went to a bilateral meeting with the co-president of growth equity firm General Atlantic, Martín Escobari, and to a dinner at BTG bank. Earlier, the minister had engagements with Ukraine's Economy Minister Yulia Svyrydenko.

On the occasion, Guedes once again “condemned hostilities” and spoke about Brazil’s commitment to the resumption of peaceful talks between the country and Russia.

In this year’s edition of the World Forum, Brazil is one of the four countries or regions featuring exclusive discussion panels. The event ends Thursday (26) and brings together over 2 thousand country leaders and specialists.
