A set of initiatives to neutralize the environmental impact of its activities and thus contribute to the transition to a 'carbon-zero' and more sustainable world is part of the innovations of Fenasucro & Agrocana in 2023. As the world's only event exclusively focused on the bioenergy chain, the fair is promoted and organized by RX Brazil, which takes sustainability, social responsibility, and good governance as one of its company's commitments and industry leadership in events.

For the fair's director, Paulo Montabone, the fact that Fenasucro & Agrocana highlights the global energy transition with a focus on sustainability, biofuels, and clean energy "obliges" them to present an event based on ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) actions to the market, aiming at decarbonization.

"We are undertaking various awareness and engagement actions. Fenasucro & Agrocana has this role, stands out compared to other fairs, and needs to be an example," emphasizes Montabone.

Actions in practice

Among the initiatives implemented for this edition, the fair - which will take place between August 15th and 18th, 2023, at the Zanini Events Center in Sertãozinho, São Paulo - prioritizes the hiring of suppliers from the region with the aim of promoting the local economy. However, before that, a thorough analysis is carried out to ensure that the company to be contracted has a focus on socio-environmental and governance actions.

"We have a website that monitors all documentation to verify that the supplier company does not employ illegal labor, is not involved in corruption, has IBAMA certification, and uses renewable materials, among other requirements," reveals the director.

The 29th edition of Fenasucro & Agrocana has ESG priority actions before, during, and after the event, involving logistics, purchasing, waste management, water supply, and even employee accommodation, all in support of the company's decarbonization goal.

During the four days of the fair, for example, all the hand towels and toilet paper used will come from certified renewable sources, as well as the soaps that will be biodegradable.

The waste generated at the event will be separated into specific containers (organic and recyclable) and will be monitored for disposal. There will also be control of water consumption to prevent losses, detect leaks, and reduce wastage. The employee accommodation will take place in a hotel that also follows sustainable development initiatives.

Clean Energy 100%

For the first time, all the electricity consumed during the Fenasucro & Agrocana event will come from a clean, 100% renewable, and certified source. The event will also feature five charging stations for electric and hybrid cars with no cost to users.

Unprecedented

Another initiative is the launch of the unprecedented Sustainable Innovation Route, sponsored by MÚTUA - the Assistance Fund for Crea Professionals, which will highlight exhibitor brands that have products and solutions with an innovative and sustainable approach during the event. The goal is to boost and give visibility to brands that have already taken the first step towards meeting the planet's sustainability demand.

"This will be an unprecedented attraction and is in line with what the fair has been doing for almost 30 years, which is to boost and shed light on solutions and products that can bring benefits to the bioenergy production chain and, in this case, to the planet as a whole," explains Paulo Montabone.

In 2023, a total of 12 brands will participate in the Sustainable Innovation Route, namely: ACS, Bermo, Caldema, Fass Agro, Interunion, Mix Telematics, Quadrante, SEW, Smar, Telog, VLC, and WEG. To learn more about the project and the participating companies, access the link.
