At the fourth meeting of the Firjan SENAI SESI Network of Opportunities program, the Jurong Aracruz shipyard (EJA) presented its procurement requirements to potential 130 suppliers. The meeting took place at the headquarters of the Federation of Industries of Rio de Janeiro (Firjan) on 11/8. The shipyard will build an Antarctic support vessel (NApAnt) for the Brazilian Navy, with an investment of US$ 150 million.

The ship will have a capacity for 95 people, including 26 researchers. “A novelty of the project is that the ship will have electric diesel propulsion. We already have 17 requests on the market, the first for generation, propulsion and steel. For national contracting, the following are foreseen: manufacturing engineering, acquisition of materials and finishing services, joinery, accommodation, tests, among others”, said Maicon Batista (photo), commercial manager of the shipyard that, in Espírito Santo, has already built the P platforms. -71 and P-68 for Petrobras and recently won the bid for the P-82. The company is part of Singapore's SembCorp Marine (SCM) group.

According to a mapping by Firjan, about 900 suppliers from Rio de Janeiro are potentially able to meet the demands. During the presentation, the Federation's Oil, Gas and Naval manager, Karine Fragoso, highlighted the importance of further expanding the business possibilities for companies in the state of Rio. “We need to strengthen our vision for the integration of other energy markets. There are a number of new technologies and we are advancing in the evaluation of those that are most viable for the insertion of Rio”, she highlighted.

45% local content

“One of the clauses in the Navy's contract with Jurong is the requirement of at least 45% local content. This type of ship is necessary for many countries, mainly in Latin America. Our objective is to promote the market, enhance the value of Rio, which will receive this vessel, and even export products”, guarantees Admiral Walter Lucas da Silva, CEO of the Naval Technological Cluster, which has been encouraging this production chain.

The shipyard is detailing the specifications of the demands. Gustavo Lopes, Jurong's purchasing coordinator, informed that it is important to register suppliers, with information about the company's profile, technical training and financial situation. He presented the necessary documents and the main certifications required. “During the price survey phase, the company does not need to register, only when it wins the competition”, explained Lopes.
