EDF Renováveis in Brazil has ordered 147 MW for its Folha Larga wind farm, located in the municipality of Campo Formoso, in the state of Bahia.
The contract includes the supply and installation of 35 wind turbines V150-4.2 MW with 105m cubicle height. The naceles will be manufactured in the Vestas plant in Ceará, while the blades and towers will also be produced locally in accordance with the rules of FINAME II of the National Bank for Economic and Social Development (BNDES).
Part of the Folha Larga project was the only winner in the A-4 auction held in April last year, with the historic low of PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) for the wind energy source in Brazil. The project also won in the A-6 auction held last August, becoming a PPA mix of both auctions.
"This project contributes with the 1.5 GW already installed in the country and demonstrates once again the importance of locating our locally produced V150-4.2 MW turbine for the Brazilian market. We are proud to work with a leading global company such as EDF in Brazil. Brazil, "says Rogério S. Zampronha, President of Vestas in Brazil and LATAM Sul.
Vestas received more than 950 MW in orders for the V150-4.2 MW turbine in Brazil since October 2018, when the company announced plans to produce the turbine variant in Ceará.
