Petrobras informed, through a note released last night (3), that four of the eleven members of the company's Board of Directors announced their departure. João Cox Neto, Nivio Ziviani, Paulo Cesar de Souza e Silva and Omar Carneiro da Cunha Sobrinho decided not to be reappointed at the next Extraordinary General Meeting.

The four are representatives of the controlling partner, that is, the Union, within the council, and their renewal had been proposed by the Ministry of Mines and Energy, in a letter sent to the company on February 19.

Omar Carneiro da Cunha justified his decision due to the announcement of changes to the company's board of directors by the federal government. Last month, the Presidency of the Republic informed that it will change the command of Petrobras, putting General Joaquim Luna e Silva in the place of the current president of the company, Roberto Castello Branco.

“Due to the recent events related to changes in Petrobras' senior management, and the positions expressed by the largest representative of the controlling shareholder of Petrobras, I do not feel in a position to accept the reappointment of my name as Director of this renowned company, in which I had the privilege to serve in the last seven months ”, he wrote in a message sent to the board chairman, according to the note released by the company.

Paulo Cesar de Souza e Silva, on the other hand, asked not to be reinstated and thanked the directors and employees of the company for an “excellent job”.

According to the note, João Cox Neto and Nivio Ziviani alleged personal reasons for not accepting a possible reappointment at the next meeting.
