The prospect of investments in the exploration of new reserves, auctioned by the National Agency for Petroleum, Natural Gas and Biofuels (ANP) in the last three years, together with the revitalization strategy of the mature fields, indicate the resumption of the oil and gas sector operations in Macaé.

Data on the strategies of large offshore operators to increase production capacity in the Campos Basin reserves were presented during a meeting held last Wednesday (5) at the municipal secretariat of Economic Development and Environment.

At the meeting, the executive secretary of the Brazilian Association of Oil Services Companies (ABESPetro), Gilson Coelho, pointed out that in the next seven years, about R$ 285 billion will be invested in the State of Rio de Janeiro to increase the production of reserves, a potential capable of generating about 700 thousand jobs in the period.

"The industry is prepared to reactivate oil and gas operations through the investments expected by the operators. In addition to the ANP auctions, the revitalization strategy of mature fields increases the supply of oil for production, which increases Brazil's world oil and gas market, "explained Gilson.

Today, Brazil is the 9th country with the largest oil production capacity in the world, moving the industry responsible for 30% of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of the State of Rio de Janeiro. Measures discussed and advocated by the municipal government will contribute to this new virtuous cycle of oil.

"Macaé is already experiencing this new moment. The city has a structure to meet this oil dynamics, such as the improvement of the mobility system through the construction of the Santa Tereza Road, the expansion of the Airport and the installation of the new port. for a new moment, "Gilson said.

The secretary of Economic Development and Environment, Gerson Martins, said that the municipal government has been dedicated to seeking intelligent solutions to meet this new demand in the oil and gas sector.

"Licensing applications for companies in this industry are increasing. These are concrete data from the Secretariat, which motivates us to help Mayor Dr. Aluizio make important decisions to prepare the city and stimulate the productive chain of oil and gas with significant potential to generate jobs, "Gerson said.
