The Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE) initially planned to co-locate two top-tier events this year in Colombia, the Latin American and Caribbean Petroleum Engineering Conference (LACPEC) and the International Conference and Exhibition on Health, Safety, Environment, and Sustainability.

With the evolving impacts of COVID-19 felt around the globe, the health and safety of all participants was at the forefront of the decision to transition from an in-person event to a digital experience—through a sophisticated, interactive platform.

SPE is reinventing how it connects by removing physical barriers for global attendees. This decision provides the opportunity to preserve the high-quality, invaluable collection of industry knowledge and technical advances that these conferences deliver while revolutionizing how SPE engages with its audiences.

LACPEC and the International Conference and Exhibition on HSE and Sustainability will provide all-in-one professional access to the showcasing of extensive research in petroleum engineering, leadership and safety culture practices in the oilfield, advances integrating the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and an exhibition of innovative technologies.

This five-day virtual event showcases top industry executives and game-changing leaders who will present their strategies and perspectives through more than 13 live plenaries and panels and more than 250 papers through 78 technical sessions—all live with Q&As. These sessions will be held in real-time and accessible on-demand for 90 days.

The event is designed with ePosters and a virtual exhibition to allow attendees the ability to engage with pioneering organizations and the latest technologies. A virtual lounge helps build strategic partnerships and create collaborative successes with E&P professionals from across multiple disciplines.

Attendees can virtually network with 2021 SPE President, Tom Blasingame; Felipe Bayón, CEO, Ecopetrol; Lees Rodionov, Global Director, Sustainability, Schlumberger; Brian Sullivan, Executive Director, IPIECA; Clément Lavigne, Head of Environment & Social Division, Corporate HSE/EP, Total; Kelly Goddard, VP Environment, Social Performance and HSSE Compliance, BP; Fawaz K. Bitar, Chairman, IOGP; and more.
