The ANP has placed on its website the booklet "Opportunities in the Production and Fuel Supply in Brazil", which presents the existing infrastructure in the country and shows the possibilities for the sector in the current scenario, marked by several governmental and regulatory initiatives aimed at the promotion of free competition, access to and growth of private investment.

The publication provides an overview of the supply sector in Brazil and the opportunities in infrastructure for domestic supply of fuels and derivatives, in the production of derivatives and biofuels, as well as in the infrastructure of import, movement and logistics of supply of fuels and oil products.

Brazil is one of the largest fuel users in the world and the pace of consumption growth observed in the last decade was higher than the evolution of its Gross Domestic Product (GDP). In order to satisfy the demand needs, the country has important infrastructure for refining, import, production, specification, handling and delivery to the population of oil, natural gas and biofuel derivatives.

For the next 10 years, it is expected to accumulate 20% growth in demand for the main derivatives and biofuels. This estimated increase of 461 thousand barrels per day in consumption can be met both by the expansion of the infrastructure of imports of derivatives and by new investments that increase the national production of derivatives and biofuels. In addition, infrastructure and internal supply logistics should be able to meet the increase in local demand.

Prospects for increased domestic demand bring opportunities for investments in domestic fuel production. In the segment of oil and natural gas derivatives, there are projects under discussion, such as the 2nd Train of the RNEST refinery in Ipojuca / PE (115 thousand barrels / day) and the Comperj refinery in Itaboraí / RJ (159 thousand barrels / day), in addition to of the construction of UPGN in Comperj (processing of 21 million m³ of natural gas). In addition to these projects, in regional terms, the greatest prospects for increased demand and the need for investments in the supply of fuels and derivatives are located in the North, Northeast and Midwest regions.
