Level of reservoirs is within "planned risk", Energy secretary says
The executive secretary of the Ministry of Mines and Energy, Márcio Zimmermann, said the low level of the country's hydroelectric reservoirs is within the “planned risk" for the electricity industry.
He argued that this is due to the slight improvement in rainfall at the end of the rainy season in the Southeast, where the main reservoirs for power generation in the country are located.
"In our assessment, the situation didn’t get worse. We have better inflow [rains] now in the Southeast," he said. Mr. Zimmermann also denied the need to encourage ractioning in order to ensure there will be no supply problems.
