The Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) published today, 25/02, in the Official Gazette (DOU), an ordinance that includes, in the Special Incentive Scheme for Infrastructure Development (REIDI), the pipeline project for the transportation of flammable products and Class I fuels, anhydrous ethanol and hydrated ethanol, from the company Logum Logística SA The planned investments are in the order of R $ 110 million.

This project aims, above all, the movement of ethanol (anhydrous and hydrated) for approximately 43 km, with a reduction in investment costs, due to the suspension of contributions to the Social Integration Program and the Program for the Formation of the Civil Servant's Heritage (PIS / PASEP) and for the Contribution to the Financing of Social Security (COFINS).

REIDI is a public policy that seeks to encourage companies that have projects approved for the implementation of infrastructure works in the sectors of transport, ports, energy, basic sanitation and irrigation.

Other pipeline projects by Logum Logística S.A., with ordinances also published by MME, were included in REIDI in 2019. Investments reached R $ 645 million. With the continued expansion of infrastructure, investments will total approximately R $ 750 million. The projects, located in the state of São Paulo, are part of the Multimodal Ethanol Logistics System. The objective is to improve the logistics for transporting ethanol production, connecting the producing centers to the main consumption centers, in particular, the São Paulo Metropolitan Region.

It is important to note that pipelines represent an alternative to the limitations of the current cargo transportation infrastructure, which uses mainly the road modal. In this way, the overload of the highways and their deterioration will be avoided. In addition, they bring energy efficiency advantages, promote a reduction in the consumption of fossil fuels and reduce the emission rates of greenhouse gases, among others.

Technicians assess that the inclusion of these pipeline projects in REIDI benefits the whole society as they promote competitive final transportation costs and, consequently, a potential reduction in the cost of goods and services. In addition, they result in the generation of direct and indirect jobs, contributing to the country's economic and social development, as well as to the promotion and strengthening of the sugar and alcohol sector.

MME makes available on its website, on the REIDI / REPENEC page, the information, guidelines and published Ordinances. The link is http://antigo.mme.gov.br//web/guest/reidi-repenec.
