Natural gas is a modern source of energy, which brings many benefits both for companies, industries and homes, and for the environment. It is widely used in first world countries and, in Brazil, the use has been growing exponentially. Today its use means more than 20% of the energy matrix in the country.

For the CEO of MSGÁS, Rui Pires dos Santos, in addition to being promising and synonymous with development for Brazil, its use is undoubtedly one of the most intelligent options from the environmental point of view. It reduces CO 2 emissions during burning by more than half and has full use, emitting less pollutants into the atmosphere. In addition, it does not require the use of trucks in its delivery, since it is made through tubes. An advantage in terms of both pollution and urban mobility. “In addition to the benefits for the environment, it also brings practicality to operations. Its supply is continuous and made by means of modern pipelines designed for this purpose, in addition, as it does not have the need for storage, it does not occupy space and brings more security in its use ”, he points out.

For more than two decades, Mato Grosso do Sul has been able to rely on natural gas for the development of the state. MSGÁS is responsible for its distribution, which today serves more than 460 companies across MS, including hospitals, shopping malls, stores and, in addition, 9970 residential units and 23 industries.

One of these industries is Semalo, which has been operating in the food industry for 26 years. Founded by businessman Sérgio Longen (photo), in Campo Grande, it is serviced throughout its operation by natural gas from MSGÁS.

The industry, which has already used LPG and even firewood in its operations, today uses natural gas. A practice that, according to Longen, brought more growth and quality to Semalo's production. The advantages, for the entrepreneur who is also today at the head of the Federation of Industries of the State of Mato Grosso do Sul, are diverse.Among them, one of the most notable is the possibility of a regular supply, which allows for improvements in the delivered product. “This gas that arrives at our company has brought satisfactory results throughout the chain. We understand that more and more quality is being put into check, and it is clear that when you have a constant receipt of this product, the final result of your product is different. Natural gas has made a difference ”, he points out.

In addition to being a differential at Semalo, Longen believes that the use of natural gas by other companies and industries is a definite factor, including for the entire state. “This is a state-of-the-art energy matrix and we need it to develop the industry in Mato Grosso do Sul. Therefore, I argue that natural gas is our difference in the development of the MS industry,” he says.

MSGÁS serves the most important companies, industries and enterprises in Mato Grosso do Sul, with more than 10,660 customers.
