In May 2018, the country's oil and gas production was approximately 3.311 million barrels of oil equivalent per day (boe / d).

It produced 2.607 million barrels of oil per day (bbl / d), an increase of 0.4% compared to the previous month and a reduction of 1.7% compared to May 2017.

Natural gas production totaled 112 million cubic meters per day, an increase of 2.9% compared to the previous month and of 6.8% compared to the same month of 2017.

Production data for May are available on the ANP's Monthly Bulletin of Petroleum and Natural Gas Production:

http://www.anp.gov.br/publicacoes/boletins-anp/2395-boletim-mensal-da-producao-de-petroleo-e-gas-natural.

Pre-salt

Pre-salt production in May totaled 1.840 million boe / d. There was an increase of 3.1% in relation to the previous month. 1.463 million barrels of oil per day and 60 million cubic meters of natural gas per day were produced through 84 wells. The pre-salt production corresponded to 55.6% of the total produced in Brazil.

The pre-salt wells are those whose production is carried out in the geological horizon called pre-salt, in fields located in the area defined in section IV of caput of article 2 of Law 12,351 / 2010.

Use of natural gas

The use of natural gas in Brazil in May reached 96.3% of the total volume produced. 58.5 million cubic meters per day were made available to the market.

Gas flaring totaled 4.1 million cubic meters per day, an increase of 20.5% compared to the previous month and 11.3% compared to the same month in 2017. The increase is related to the commissioning activities of platform P-74, in operation in the Búzios field.

Producer fields

The Lula field, in the Santos Basin, was the largest producer of oil and natural gas. It produced, on average, 872 thousand bbl / d of oil and 37.4 million m3 / d of natural gas.

Maritime fields produced 95.7% of oil and 83.1% of natural gas. The production occurred in 7,505 wells, being 722 seafarers and 6,783 terrestrial. The fields operated by Petrobras produced 94.1% of the oil and natural gas.

Estreito, in the Potiguar Basin, had the largest number of producing wells: 1,094. Marlim Sul, in the Campos Basin, was the maritime field with the largest number of producing wells: 88.

The FPSO Cidade de Marica, producing in the Lula field, was the facility with the largest oil production. It produced 149.2 thousand bbl / d through 7 interconnected wells.

The Arara Azul plant, producing in the fields of Arara Azul, Araracanga, Carapanaúba, Cupiúba, Rio Urucu and Southwest Urucu, by means of 36 interconnected wells, produced 8.3 million m3 / of which was the installation with greater gas production Natural.

Other information

In May 2018, 304 concession areas, an onerous assignment area and a sharing area, operated by 31 companies, were responsible for domestic production. Of these, 77 are maritime and 229 are terrestrial. It is worth mentioning that of the total of the producing areas, two are in exploratory activity and producing through Long-Term Test (TLD) and another nine are related to contracts of areas containing marginal accumulations.

The average API grade was 27.2, with 39.1% of the production considered light oil (> = 31 ° API), 47.3% medium oil (> = 22 API and <31 API) and 13.6% oil heavy (<22 API).

The mature terrestrial basins (fields / long-term tests of the Espírito Santo, Potiguar, Recôncavo, Sergipe and Alagoas basins) produced 113.2 thousand boe / d, of which 89.7 thousand bbl / d of oil and 3.7 million m³ / d of natural gas. Of this total, 108.7 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day were produced by Petrobras and 4.4 thousand boe / d for concessions not operated by Petrobras, with 310 boe / d in Alagoas, 1,932 boe / d in Bahia, 41 boe / d in Espírito Santo, 1943 boe / d in Rio Grande do Norte and 198 boe / d in Sergipe.
