Neoenergia, a leading company in Brazil’s electricity sector, won Lots 1 and 7 in Transmission Auction No. 04/2026, held by the National Electric Energy Agency (ANEEL) this Friday (30). The awarded lots provide for total Annual Allowed Revenue (RAP) of R$ 127.9 million and investments estimated by ANEEL at R$ 1.4 billion to build 351 km of new transmission lines in the states of Bahia and Paraíba. Together, the two lots comprise 834 km of transmission lines and are expected to generate 3,132 jobs.

The auction result reinforces Neoenergia’s presence in a strategic business segment for the Group, which is focused on expanding its networks to support the electrification of the economy. Brazil’s fifth-largest transmission operator, the company draws on its experience in developing and operating assets, supported by the technical capabilities, global scale and technological solutions of the Iberdrola Group.

The concession will run for 30 years from the signing of the contract, scheduled for February 2027. Operations are expected to begin within 48 months for Lot 1, in Bahia, and 42 months for Lot 7, in Paraíba.

“This result is aligned with Neoenergia’s strategy of selectively expanding its transmission business, one of its main business lines, while maintaining capital-allocation discipline and focusing on long-term value creation. Our experience and presence in the transmission business will contribute to the development of safe, efficient infrastructure that is essential to the expansion of Brazil’s electricity system,” says Eduardo Capelastegui, Neoenergia’s CEO.

The company already operates more than 8,000 km of transmission lines in Brazil and has a presence in several regions of the country.

Awarded lots

The awarded lots complement and create synergies with Neoenergia’s existing operations. In Bahia, Lot 1—which was already held by Neoenergia and was put up for auction again—includes assets already connected to the company, as well as new facilities linked to its distribution and transmission operations. Lot 7, in Paraíba, also has potential synergies with the company’s transmission and generation operations.
