Achieving gender equity and empowering all women and girls is the fifth of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) proposed by the United Nations (UN) Agenda 2030. Supported by the theme "Gender Equality", the National Electric System Operator (ONS) has also been developing some actions within the social responsibility program. The objective is to contribute to a fairer labor market, a non-discriminatory environment, where men and women enjoy equal opportunities for professional development, in addition to encouraging entrepreneurship as one of the economic possibilities for women.

To evolve on this journey, ONS sponsors, through the ISS Law of Incentive to Culture in the Municipality of Rio, the program "Empowerment and Cinema - Young Black Women in Audiovisual". The initiative is coordinated by Cinema Nosso and aims to increase the presence of black women in the direction, executive production and script of audiovisual productions through training and improvement courses.

The Operator also supports the "Vozes do Território" project, developed by Circo Crescer & Viver, an institution that has had the cultural sponsorship of ONS for 12 years. The action seeks to map, identify and strengthen a series of socio-productive enterprises in the neighborhood of Cidade Nova and its surroundings. The NGO, through an exclusive public call for women, received 188 proposals from women and selected ten to have their businesses leveraged.

About ONS - The National Electric System Operator (ONS) is responsible for coordinating and controlling the operation of the electricity generation and transmission facilities in the National Interconnected System (SIN) and for planning the operation of the country's isolated systems, under the inspection and regulation of the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel). With the international certification of the 2021 edition of Great Place to Work (GPTW), the agency has monitoring centers, with teams working 24 hours a day, every day of the week, spread over four states: Rio de Janeiro, Brasília, Recife and Florianópolis. ONS is composed of associate members and participating members, which are generation, transmission, distribution, free consumers, energy importers and exporters. The Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) and representatives of the Consumer Councils also participate.
