The Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), which takes place May 2-5 in Houston, and United Against Human Trafficking (UAHT) will continue their partnership which began in 2015 to increase awareness of human trafficking.

UAHT’s mission is to end human trafficking. UAHT increases awareness by training law enforcement, healthcare workers and business owners on how to identify and combat human trafficking in the greater Houston community. As part of the partnership, the organization conducted a training for OTC’s exhibitors this year after educating the conference’s staff on human trafficking in 2015. In addition, UAHT is again working with OTC to include information and messages in OTC communications before and during the conference, and it will have an on-site presence in NRG Center.

“OTC is proud to continue its partnership with United Against Human Trafficking to increase awareness of human trafficking among our attendees from the greater Houston area and around the world,” said OTC 2016 Chairman Joe Fowler. “This important partnership opens the door for us to face a complex issue, bring attention to human trafficking and work together to improve our communities.”

The ongoing partnership is part of OTC’s broader commitment to serving the greater Houston community, which also includes activities such as the Energy Education Institute, a daylong workshop for teachers grades 4–12 and a STEM Event for high school students ages 15 or older, and the Distinguished Achievement Awards Luncheon (formerly known as the Annual OTC Dinner), which has donated a total of $1,200,000 to local charitable organizations over the past five years.

“We are grateful to continue the partnership with the Offshore Technology Conference. United Against Human Trafficking is dedicated to uniting the community in the fight against human trafficking. We are thankful for the opportunity to partner with OTC on this very important issue that’s impacting our city.” Timeka Walker, UAHT Executive Director of Operations.
