Petrobras today (7) presented the new S-50 gasoline (50 parts per million or ppm), ultra-low sulfur content, and that from the first day of 2014 is already being marketed in positions of Petrobras Distribuidora both the common model as in Premium. The new fuel will replace the S-800 currently used. According to the company, the new petrol complements the series of products with a low sulfur content that is being developed and marketed by Petrobras, as the diesel S-10 which entered the market in January 2013.

The beginning of the commercialization of the S-50 is part of an investment package of U.S. $ 20.6 billion of the company between 2005 and 2013, 21 new units hidrossulfurização at Petrobras refineries.

According to Frederick Kramer, manager of Commercial Solutions and Product Development Supply Petrobras, in addition to the environmental benefits of lower emissions of particles in the environment, the new gasoline also has benefits for consumers such as higher engine efficiency and lower cost maintenance of cars. He added that gasoline will allow the automotive market to develop new technologies for future fleets.

Petrobras also said that from this year will be the best selling diesel S-1800 for road use we now have only the S-500 and S-10 options, with lower sulfur content.
