Raízen announces that it will invest in the construction of its second cellulosic ethanol (E2G) plant ("E2G Plant") with an installed capacity to produce 82 million liters per year, corresponding to twice the capacity of its first plant. The plant will be integrated into the Bonfim bioenergy park located in Guariba/SP, which in addition to the production of sugar, first-generation ethanol and electricity from sugarcane biomass, also houses the Company's first Biogas plant, inaugurated in October 2020. The E2G Plant is expected to start operating in 2023. With the start-up of this second plant, Raízen's total production capacity will be approximately 120 million liters of E2G ethanol per year.
The announcement of the new plant meets the growing demand for the product in the international market, with 91% of its volume already sold under a long-term contract with a global energy player. With the mastery of technology, Raízen will consolidate itself as the only producer in the world to operate 2 cellulosic ethanol plants on an industrial scale.
