Renewable sources will rise by eight percentage points in electric power matrix in 2016, reaching a share of 83.4% (70.3% from hydro, 8.5% from biomass, 4.5% from wind). In 2015, these sources accounted for 75.5%. The data contained in the Energy Monthly Bulletin - August reference, prepared by the Secretariat of Energy Planning and Development of the Ministry of Mines and Energy.

When considering the domestic supply of Brazilian energy - all energy required to move the economy - the estimate for 2016 is that renewables will contribute 43.5% indicator also higher than in 2015, 41%.

In the forecast, the hydropower is the one that stands out, increasing its stake from 64% (2015) to 70.3% (2016) in the electricity supply matrix, and from 11.3% to 12.7% domestic supply of energy matrix. Wind power in the energy matrix, to rise one percentage point, from 3.5% (2015) to 4.5% (2016), representing a generation close to 30 TWh this year. As for biomass, is expected to pass from 8% (2015) to 8.5% (2016), also in the energy matrix.

Indicators until August

The hydraulic power supply increased 9.7% from January to August 2016. The production of oil and natural gas also have positive growth rates in the year, 0.8% and 4.6% respectively. Considering only the rates that occurred in August over the same month of 2015, oil production increased by 2.8% and natural gas 9.5%, both higher than in the full year.

The Energy Monthly Bulletin follows a set of variable energy and non-energy capable of allowing reasonable estimate of the monthly and cumulative behavior of the total energy demand in Brazil.
