On Monday (March 16), Rio de Janeiro's City Hall will formalize an agreement with the Brazilian Petroleum, Gas, and Biofuels Institute (IBP) for the transfer of the historic Automóvel Club do Brasil building on Rua do Passeio in Cinelândia. The space will be repurposed to house the Oil and New Energies Museum.

The City Hall is currently overseeing the restoration, renovation, and adaptation of the long-abandoned building, with construction works having begun in June 2023.

The Oil and New Energies Museum is an IBP-led initiative, with project development managed by the Institute for Development and Management (IDG) and partnerships from major energy companies, including Petrobras, CNOOC, and PRIO.
