President Dilma Rousseff's approval ratings have dropped as against March, according to a survey released on Thursday (Jun 19) by the National Confederation of Industry (CNI).

The percentage of the population that rates Rousseff's government as “excellent” or “good” has shrunk from 36% in March to 31% in June, offset by an increase in the percentage of those who rated it as “poor” or “very poor” – from 27% to 33%. The mood change was felt mostly in the South, North, and Central-West regions. Conversely, the highest approval ratings were recorded in the Northeast, where 42% of respondents went for “excellent” or “good”.

Approval for the president's governing style has also dropped, going from 51% in March to 44% in June.

Similarly, the levels of trust in the president have worsened. In June, 41% of respondents said they trust the president, as against 52% who said they don't. In March, those percentages had been 48% and 47% respectively.

The survey went on to cover Brazilians' views on nine government areas. Unfavorable responses outnumbered approval ratings and exceeded 50% for all areas. Healthcare had the worst ratings with 78% of rejection, whereas hunger and poverty alleviation had the best scores with 41% of respondents favorable to the government's line of work.

The survey was conducted in partnership with IBOPE between June 13 and 15. A total of 2,002 respondents were heard in 142 municipalities. The margin of sampling error is minus or plus two percentage points.
