Shell invests around BRL 70 million in more than 30 projects in Brazil in 2023

The company celebrates second place in the ranking of the largest culture promoters in the country

Close to completing 110 years in Brazil, Shell announces a record investment in sponsorships through the Sports and Culture Incentive Laws. The company is investing around BRL 70 million – five times more than in 2022 – in more than 30 projects spread across the states of Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Espírito Santo, Minas Gerais, the Federal District and Pernambuco. There are museums, symphony orchestras, projects to include people with disabilities in sports, literary fairs, black culture events, women's soccer and much more. Currently, Shell occupies second place in the ranking of the largest cultural sponsors in the country through incentivized funding.

Among the highlights in the area of culture are the revitalization of the collection of the National Museum of Fine Arts, in Rio de Janeiro, with an investment of R$ 5.7 million, the renovation of Armazém da Utopia (R$ 10 million), also in the river; and sponsorship of Cinemateca (R$4 million) and Pinacoteca (R$3.1 million), both in São Paulo, a strategic area for the company. In Minas Gerais, where Shell has been developing solar energy projects, the company is the newest sponsor of the Inhotim Institute, with a contribution of R$ 3.5 million. In the Federal District, the Complexo Cultural do Choro receives exclusive sponsorship from Shell, of around R$ 1 million. The CowParade, held in 33 countries, arrives in Espírito Santo presented by the company, which is investing R$ 2 million. In Pernambuco, Shell invests more than R$2.5 million in renovating Portomídia.

In terms of sports, approximately R$ 15 million will be invested in initiatives aimed primarily at inclusion and diversity. Shell exclusively presents projects such as Casa Rio Surf, Jogaremos Juntos and Urece Ippon nos Obsçous, all in Rio de Janeiro. In São Paulo, the company becomes the exclusive sponsor of the Girls Tennis School and the Elas no Futebol initiative. In Espírito Santo, the Adapted Physical Activities and Inclusion, Social Idol and Paralympic Sport and Inclusion projects make up the list of sports investments. The company will also invest R$ 4.5 million in sponsoring the Dream Tour surf circuit, with stages in different regions.

Major events are also on Shell's list, which announces, in Rio de Janeiro, the presentation of the International Book Biennial (R$ 3 million), the Literary Festival of the Peripheries (R$ 2.5 million) and Back 2 Black (R$ 2.5 million). more than R$ 1 million), in addition to sponsoring the Rio Festival for the second year. Classical music also receives incentives from the company, with investments in the Brasília Symphony Festival, in the 2023 season of the São Paulo Parasymphony Orchestra and in the 11th ES Festival of Classical Music.
