Petrobras has signed a ten-year contract with Excelerate Energy for the use of the Excelerate Sequoia vessel. With a storage capacity of 173,000 m³ and a regasification capacity of 23 million m³/d, compatible with the most modern vessels in the global fleet, the ship will operate at the Bahia Natural Gas Liquefaction Regasification Terminal (TR-BA), which is connected to the integrated natural gas transportation network. This is a LNG regasification vessel that converts imported liquefied natural gas into a gaseous state.

"The contract aims to ensure the operational continuity of the Bahia LNG Regasification Terminal, which reverts to Petrobras on 01/01/2024, after the end of the lease to Excelerate. This ensures our capacity to meet the commitments made, in line with the company's Strategic Planning," said Maurício Tolmasquim, Director of Energy Transition and Sustainability at the Company.

This contract will enable the simultaneous operational availability of the Baía de Guanabara LNG Regasification Terminal (TR-BGUA) and TR-BA for the next ten years, ensuring the maintenance of the high levels of reliability and flexibility offered by Petrobras in delivering natural gas to its customers.

The Excelerate Sequoia utilizes state-of-the-art technology, which, in addition to its high regasification capacity, provides more efficient operation with low fuel consumption, making it compatible with both TR-BA and TR-BGUA.

This is another step by Petrobras towards a fair energy transition, reducing emissions and ensuring the necessary flexibility for gas consumption, complementing the entry of renewable sources.
