SKIC (Sigdo Koppers Ingieneria Y Construccion), one of the leading Engineering and Construction companies in Latin America, is on its way to consolidate itself as one of the main Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) players in the Brazilian engineering and construction market. Although SKIC began its activities in the implementation of electric power transmission lines in 2016, the company began to implement its expansion plan in the Brazilian market for engineering and construction projects in 2021, with the objective of advancing in other sectors besides energy, such as Mining and Steel, Oil and Gas and Sanitation.

In the first year of implementation of the plan, the company reaped its first fruits in the sectors of interest. It won three new contracts, two in the mining sector and one in the energy sector, received 71 invitations to participate in competitions for contracts and selected 24 of them for more detailed studies, in addition to having closed three alliances with partner companies in the areas of technology and construction.

"We assess that the good openness to SKIC in the Brazilian market, in this first year of implementation of our expansion plan, is due to our international experience in carrying out more than 800 major projects, in addition to financial soundness, integrity and commitment to quality, which makes the company known as one of the largest builders in Latin America," said Robson Campos, CEO of SKIC Brazil. He points out that the first major objective of SKIC's expansion in Brazil was reached already in the first year of implementation of the plan, with the achievement of two projects in the mining sector, a great achievement of the entire SKIC Brazil team.

In 2022, SKIC continues with its good business movement. SKIC Brazil’s director of business development, Indira Narvaz, says that in the first quarter, the company has received 20 more new invitations to participate in competitions for new contracts and started the study of 10 of these projects, in addition to expanding its operations in the mining sector with the two new contracts signed.

"SKIC Brasil works in studies and negotiations of projects totaling more than R$ 3 billion in the segments of power generation, focusing on photovoltaics, thermal and transmission area, an activity in which we have already implemented more than two thousand kilometers of lines in Brazil - in addition to mining and steel, including greenfield projects, brownfield, plants and ports," says Indira Narvaz, director of business development at SKIC Brazil.

Another front of SKIC's potential performance in Brazil is the data center construction segment, in which the company has already been operating in Chile, having recently completed, in its host country, one of the largest data center projects in Latin America. "In addition, we are starting studies in new markets, such as the green hydrogen sector and offshore wind projects, using all our expertise in high complexity projects to advance in these new segments that may have great demand in Brazil", concludes Indira.
