The fifth edition of Sergipe Oil & Gas (SOG26) surpassed last year’s results and consolidated the event as one of the country’s leading gatherings for the oil and gas value chain. Over three days, the AM Malls Convention Center in Aracaju brought together more than 3,000 people, driving the technical program, the business fair, the thematic arenas, and institutional meetings focused on the development of the sector.

There was growth in the number of exhibitors, participating companies, and highly representative speakers from the segment. The program managed to bring together different links in the oil and gas value chain, from operators and suppliers to professionals in operations, maintenance, the environment, and innovation, as well as students, reinforcing the event’s role as a space for integration among industry, academia, and new talent.

SOG26 brought together more than 3,200 participants, held 9 activities, and featured more than 120 speakers across 21 panels. In addition, it welcomed participants from 8 countries, had 7 media partners, and received support from 21 institutions. There were 15 sponsors and more than 90 brands at the business fair.

One of the event’s main highlights was the opening keynote by Petrobras’ Executive Director of Exploration and Production, Sylvia Anjos, who presented an analysis of the challenges facing Brazil’s energy matrix, the expansion of the natural gas supply, and the impacts of the Sergipe Deepwater Project (SEAP) on the state’s economy.

The discussions held throughout the congress addressed topics such as exploration in new frontiers, transport infrastructure, technological innovation, and the industry’s competitiveness. The discussion on SEAP and the future of the natural gas market was at the center of attention, especially given the prospects for expanding production.

The presence of public authorities, industry executives, and academic leaders reinforced SOG26’s institutional importance. In addition to the Petrobras director, the event was attended by Sergipe Governor Fábio Mitidieri; the State Secretary for Economic Development, Science and Technology, Valmor Barbosa; and ANP Director General Artur Watt. Representatives of strategic companies in the sector, such as Petrobras, SBM Offshore, Eneva, and Carmo Energy, were also present. The diversity of participants demonstrated the integration among government, industry, and academia in building an agenda aimed at expanding the oil and gas value chain in Sergipe.

Knowledge Production

The university was also present at the event, showcasing its knowledge production and opening up opportunities for visitors. Francisco Almeida, Administrative and Financial Director of the Technology and Research Institute of Tiradentes University, positively assessed the results of SOG. According to him, the university positioned itself as a hub involving human capital, professional training, research and innovation development.

“Our goal was to find partners who could benefit from what the university ecosystem currently offers through its undergraduate, graduate, and professional training programs. The Technology and Research Institute already has a tradition in oil and gas research and development, with qualified researchers and advanced laboratories,” the director emphasized, adding that the event was highly positive because it brought the university closer to the sector’s major companies.

“We had the opportunity to speak here with anchor companies such as Petrobras and SBM, with which we held very productive discussions. As a result, we have an extensive agenda for the rest of the year,” said Francisco Almeida.

Another company that reaped positive results from the event was Honeywell, which displayed equipment designed for fire protection and safety. According to representative Jonathas Grecco, the experience was positive. “It was a very productive trade fair, as we served several types of clients, all with a high demand for information about our services.”

Projection for the Future

One of the organizers of SOG26, Nicolás Honorato, said that the progress of the Sergipe Deepwater Project (SEAP) strengthened the business environment and increased interest in the event. According to him, the state is entering a new phase of investments, which is expected to generate opportunities in subsea systems, pipelines, onshore infrastructure, oil and gas processing, and offshore support bases, with impacts throughout the supplier chain.

Looking ahead to the next edition, Nicolás Honorato announced that Sergipe Oil & Gas 2027 already has a confirmed date: July 28 to 30, at the same location, with greater international participation. Canada and the United States have already confirmed that they will send business delegations to the event. According to him, this movement reflects the growing global interest in the opportunities associated with the development of the oil and gas industry in Sergipe.

SOG26 was supported by several key companies in the sector, with Petrobras as the master sponsor.
