With the objective of offering an agenda in synergy with the official programming of Rio Oil & Gas 2020, which started yesterday (1), Shell Brasil has developed free and interactive environments that will have debates on various topics until next Thursday (3) ). In the Shell Talks room - which can be accessed from the company's immersive virtual stand on the Rio Oil & Gas website -, Cristiano Pinto da Costa, the company's manager for the Lula, Iracema, Lapa and Sapinhoá fields, this Tuesday, from the session Water Depth & Integrated Gas: Business Resilience and New Opportunities for Brazil.
In line with one of the focuses of the meeting - dealing with a purposeful agenda for the future of industry in the country -, Cristiano spoke about the prospects for defining, in 2021, a model for contracting areas in the pre-salt layer. According to him, the concession model would be able to attract more investments to Brazil and increase the country's competitiveness. The executive also mentioned the sharp drop in demand and oil prices observed this year, due to the Covid-19 pandemic: “In this context, the Brazilian pre-salt has shown a lot of resilience (...) and stood out among other basins in the world. I think this was a way to demonstrate the opportunities that still exist in the future ”, he commented.
Guilherme Perdigão (photo), general manager of New Energies for the company, was one of the panelists in the debate on Alternatives for the Energy Transition in Brazil: Integrated Vision. He stated that the decarbonization of the energy matrix is an urgent issue and that gas has a fundamental role in this process. "I need to highlight the importance of passing the Gas Law, which represents the creation of a competitive market, with more suppliers and more customers", he added.
In parallel, within the Rio Oil & Gas program, Shell Brasil's president, André Araujo, moderated a panel on the role of the oil and gas sector in the energy transition scenario.
