The ANP Exploration and Production Database (BDEP) celebrates today (29/5) 20 years of creation. Responsible for guarding and maintaining the entire national collection of E&P data, the BDEP stores around 215 thousand media, which are equivalent to approximately 6 petabytes of technical data, and is one of the largest centralized government databases in the world.

BDEP currently has 35 member companies using public data recovery services for oil and natural gas exploration and production. In addition to the associates, all operating and service companies established in the country are occasional users and have data provided by BDEP as part of their workflows.

Institucional

In 2018, the ANP launched the Technical Data Modernization Program (PMDT), seeking to improve services to society, in line with the innovation and digital transformation movements that have been advancing worldwide in the oil and gas market. The Program aims to improve regulation through new technological and scientific solutions, increasing regulatory quality, bringing efficiency and savings to the State and to the E&P sector.

As part of the PMDT, the ANP inaugurated, in September last year, new Client and Microscopy Rooms, aiming at improving the service provided to BDEP users. In these new environments, installed at the Central Office, in Rio de Janeiro, company representatives can more quickly examine technical data on areas of interest that are available in the BDEP collection.

The Customers' Room is connected to the Hermes robot (opened in July 2019) and guarantees wide and quick access to BDEP technical data: the robot quickly finds the data of interest and makes it readily available with high quality of resolution and wealth of information .

Another breakthrough achieved by BDEP is the Microscopy Room, with two microscopes and other equipment that allow high resolution visualization of samples of rocks and fluids collected in Brazilian sedimentary basins.

Last year, in October, the first dedicated link for sending and receiving BDEP data was launched, to be used by Petrobras.
