UFSCar, invited to the "Clean Energy Technology Research and Development" Conference, presented its key clean energy research at a G-20 meeting. The only invited Brazilian institution, UFSCar was represented by its Vice Rector, Prof. Dr. Walter Libardi.
The conference took place in Tokyo, Japan, on October 11, 2019. The current G-20 President is the Japanese Prime Minister, Shinzo Abe. At the Davos Congress this year, the Prime Minister of Japan raised concerns about the high CO2 production, which is mostly from the G-20 member countries. With support from the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology (AIST), the 1st Conference on Clean Energy Technology Research and Development of the G-20 signatory countries was organized.
The vice president of UFSCar presented research on hydrogen production, storage and utilization, as well as research on energy production through biomass, mainly related to sugarcane. The aim of the Clean Energy Conference was to join forces to innovate for sustainability as well as to advance the frontier of knowledge together.
