Brazilian and British companies attending the shipping industry exhibition Marintec will be greeted by the UK government at the "GREAT Marine" reception at the Porto Bay Hotel in Copacabana, on August10th , hosted by the British Consul General to Rio de Janeiro, Jonathan Dunn.

The reception will welcome the British companies participating in Marintec, Latin America’s biggest shipbuilding industry event, which brings together ship-owners, shipyards, manufacturers and national and international suppliers. The occasion also celebrates the successful partnership between the UK and Brazil in the marine sector: In the last three years, the British Government has helped UK businesses achieve the mark of £2 billion (about R$ 9.8 billion) in contracts of oil & gas and shipbuilding in the Brazilian market.

Many of the world leaders in the marine industry, including manufacturers and service providers, are based in the UK. The British companies working on the naval and nautical sector strongly prioritize the development of new equipment. This experience, alongside British talent and local expertise, has been the competitive factor of many partnerships in Brazil. There are 200 British companies currently operating in the Brazilian market.
