Rio de Janeiro Support Base will serve the drilling campaign in block C-M-541
T&B Petroleum/Press OfficeWilson Sons signed a contract with TotalEnergies EP Brasil for logistical support for the drilling campaign in Block C-M-541, located in the Campos Basin. The project will be served by Base Rio, the Company's offshore support base, located in the port region of Rio de Janeiro, in Guanabara Bay.
TotalEnergies expanded its presence as an operator in the Brazilian pre-salt in October 2019, by acquiring a 40% stake in Block C-M-541, in the 16th ANP Bidding Round. The consortium partners are QP Brasil Ltda. (40%) and PETRONAS Petroleo Brasil Ltda. (20%).
The logistic support contract with Wilson Sons lasts for 20 months and includes the management of the port operation, reception and storage of cargo, in addition to environmental services such as cleaning of tanks and waste management.
“This project, the result of a bidding process carried out by TotalEnergies, confirms Wilson Sons' competitiveness in the market. We can also see it as another recognition from the client for the quality of the service we have provided since 2013, initially in a campaign in the Xerelete Sul field and, more recently, in the Lapa project", comments the executive director of Wilson's Offshore Support Bases division Sons, Gilberto Cardarelli (photo).
The director emphasizes that in addition to the excellent performance of the HSE management system, represented by the current nine years without lost time accidents, the Wilson Sons Support Bases division has greatly modernized its processes, systems and infrastructure and has consolidated itself as a reference in these areas .
“Our operations rely on real-time tracking of all movements, the result of recent investment in the quality control and assurance project. The project was built from our experience and capturing the needs of our customers during our 21 years of activities as a supply base”, says Cardarelli.
The contract strengthens Base Rio's strategic position as a service center for the Santos and Campos basins. The unit has five berths, extensive storage infrastructure, drinking water, fluids plant, warehouses for storage of chemicals and waste and a complete administrative office structure. In addition to Base Rio, Wilson Sons has a second private port (TUP) in Niterói with three berths, which proves the Company's ample capacity in the region.
