The National Interconnected System (SIN) reached a new record for instantaneous load demand last Wednesday (01/22), hitting the mark of 102,924 megawatts (MW). This value represents the highest power required to meet demand at a given moment and was recorded by the National System Operator (ONS) at 2:31 PM. The previous record of 102,478 MW was set on March 15, 2024.

"We have implemented various measures to ensure the country's energy security. We frequently report new records, especially in renewable energy generation, such as solar, wind, and biomass. Our hydroelectric plants have also been revitalized thanks to preventive maintenance efforts, coupled with the blessings of recent heavy rains," said the Minister of Mines and Energy, Alexandre Silveira.

On the same day, new daily average load records were set in the SIN and the Southeast/Central-West subsystem, reaching 92,985 MWmed and 54,021 MWmed, respectively. This increase was directly influenced by weather conditions, particularly the high temperatures recorded in recent days in the Southeast region, which intensified energy demand.
