WPC Energy, the World Forum for Energy Transformation, is thrilled to announce that, for the first time since its founding in 1933, the WPC Energy Congress will be hosted by the Republic of Kazakhstan. This landmark event will take place from 11–15 June 2028 in the capital city Astana, at the world-class EXPO International Exhibition Center. The Congress also reflects an important milestone as it transitions to a new biennial cycle.

The Congress theme is: Future Energy Landscape: Innovative, Interconnected & Resilient.

The Kazakhstan National Committee has been involved with WPC Energy since 1997, with the KAZENERGY Association serving as its representative since 2008. In recent years, Kazakhstan has successfully hosted major WPC Energy events, including the annual WPC Energy Council Meeting in Astana in 2018 and the 7th WPC Energy Youth Forum in Almaty in 2022. Kazakhstan has the distinction of becoming the first nation in Central Asia—and the first in the new biennial cycle—to host a WPC Energy Congress.

The decision to move to a biennial cycle stems from our commitment to more closely track developments affecting the rapidly evolving energy landscape, such as advancements in technologies, shifts in energy demand and supply, changes in pricing and regulatory frameworks, geopolitical developments and progress towards transitioning to a low carbon energy system. Holding the WPC Energy Congress every two years will also create additional opportunities for networking, collaboration, and community building among WPC Energy’s membership, comprising more than 60 National Committees, and the wider global energy community.
