The 17th Bidding Round for Blocks for the exploration and production of oil and natural gas, scheduled for 10/7, has a total of nine companies registered. Yesterday (2/9), the Special Tender Committee (CEL) approved the registration of the last company, 3R Petroleum Óleo e Gás SA, according to the minutes of the meeting and a statement published today (3/9) in the Official Gazette (DOU) ).

In addition to 3R Petroleum Óleo e Gás SA, were already registered: Petrobras, Chevron Brasil Óleo e Gás Ltda., Shell Brasil Petróleo Ltda., Total Energies EP Brasil Ltda., Ecopetrol Óleo e Gás do Brasil Ltda., Murphy Exploration & Production Company , Karoon Petróleo e Gás Ltda and Wintershall Dea do Brasil Exploration and Production Ltda.

In the 17th Round, 92 blocks with exploratory risk will be offered, with a total area of 53,93 thousand km², located in 11 sectors with high potential and new frontiers in four Brazilian maritime sedimentary basins: Campos, Pelotas, Potiguar and Santos.

The registered companies met all the requirements set out in the notice and are eligible to participate in the round. Registration is mandatory and individual for each interested party, even for those who intend to present an offer through a consortium. Once the requirements established in the notice have been complied with, and the registration has been judged and approved by CEL, the company may present offers only for blocks located in the sectors for which it has paid a participation fee and provided a guarantee for the offer.

The qualification process of companies (operator A, B or non-operator) will only be carried out for the winning companies on the day of the public session for the presentation of bids, a procedure adopted since the 13th Round.

Operator is the company responsible for conducting and executing all operations and activities in the exploratory block or field. The classification between operator A or B is related to technical qualification, being based on proven experiences in oil and natural gas exploration and production activities. Thus, operators A can operate in ultra-deep, deep and shallow waters, as well as on land, while operators B can only operate in shallow waters and onshore. On the other hand, non-operating companies can form a consortium, but they cannot be responsible for the operations.
