The Brazilian Association of Independent Oil and Gas Producers (ABPIP) reinforced its commitment to the sustainable development of the oil and gas industry in Sergipe by taking part in the signing of two important initiatives aimed at strengthening the state: the Sergipe Charter – Commitment of Oil-Producing Municipalities to Territorial Development and the Petrogas Pact for Innovation.

The initiatives were signed during the Sergipe Oil & Gas 2026 program and represent another step in the organization’s efforts to help build a more competitive, innovative, and integrated business environment involving oil-producing municipalities.

The Sergipe Charter establishes a joint agenda among mayors, public-sector managers, and institutions connected to the sector to transform the wealth generated by oil and gas into lasting economic development. The commitments include strengthening the business environment, qualifying local suppliers, planning the use of royalties, professional training, infrastructure improvements, and cooperation among oil-producing municipalities. “The document is based on the principle that oil and gas should be instruments for the development of territories, rather than merely economic activities carried out within their boundaries as a source of revenue,” explained Lucas Mota de Lima, ABPIP Executive Manager.

The Petrogas Pact for Innovation, in turn, brings together companies, public institutions, universities, and representative organizations in an ongoing movement to foster innovation, entrepreneurship, technological development, and professional training within Sergipe’s oil, gas, and other energy ecosystem. The initiative provides for collaborative actions focused on talent development, strengthening the supplier chain, access to knowledge, project development, and increasing the sector’s competitiveness.

For ABPIP, the two initiatives reflect a modern vision of the industry, in which oil and gas production should go hand in hand with community development, the generation of opportunities, and the strengthening of local companies. “Independent production generates investments, jobs, and tax revenue, but its potential is even greater when we are able to integrate companies, governments, institutions, and society around a common development agenda. These initiatives reinforce precisely this vision and help prepare Sergipe for a new cycle of industry growth,” said Márcio Felix, president of ABPIP.

ABPIP’s participation in the two initiatives is aligned with the work the organization carries out nationwide to defend the strengthening of independent production and the development of public policies that increase the sector’s competitiveness, encourage investments, and promote economic development in producing regions.

The signatures complement ABPIP’s active participation in Sergipe Oil & Gas 2026, which included technical panels on operational safety and onshore production, meetings with authorities, members, and public-sector representatives, reinforcing the organization’s role in developing solutions for the growth of Brazil’s independent industry.
