Less than a year ahead of the Mataripe Refinery, in Bahia, Acelen announces the launch and start of the sale of butane to the Brazilian market, following the strategy of expanding the company's operations by diversifying its production line. This is the third product to enter the refinery's portfolio, which has a basket of more than 30 items, including solvent and special propane, which were recently announced.

The butane developed and marketed by Acelen has a high level of purity and is used, through the combination of a blend with other gases, in cosmetics, such as shaving foams, and in foods, such as whipped cream. The product is also used in rubber, lighters, lamps, fuel additives, aviation kerosene for low-temperature locations, among other purposes.

"Before we started to produce and commercialize the product, 100% of the butane used in the industries in Brazil was imported from Argentina and Bolivia. Our expectation is to replace 10% of this market with a Brazilian product. quality, greater regularity in supply and accessible to the Brazilian market", highlights the company's Vice President of Commercial and Trading, Cristiano da Costa (photo).

In addition to butane, in February and April of this year, the company added solvent and special propane to the portfolio, respectively, the latter unprecedented in the refinery's more than 70-year history and estimated to reach 30% of the national market share in next years.

The greater variety, quantity and quality of products is a result of the modernization program underway at the refinery, starting at R$1.1 billion in investments, providing greater reliability, efficiency and safety in the processes. The launch of new products has placed the company at an increasingly competitive level in the national and international market, strengthening the entire sector chain.

"We are investing to increase the refinery's productive capacity, diversifying our product basket, with high added value and competitive advantage. Our expansion plan has been essential to establish Acelen as an important player in the country's refining and energy sector," he said. the executive.
