Algás celebrates 27 years of activity. Still in 1993, at the beginning of operations, the company was a pioneer in the distribution and sale of residential natural gas, making Maceió the first capital outside the Rio-São Paulo axis to take advantage of piped natural gas.

Through a versatile and highly competitive energy source, since its creation, Algás has been making a decisive contribution to the development of the State. In 2018, the company inaugurated the largest infrastructure project in its history: the Penedo-Arapiraca gas pipeline, which is prepared to supply 343 thousand m³ of natural gas per day, over a 67 km extension.

The strategic character of natural gas is gaining more and more relevance in Alagoas. "Today, when we think about the development of the State, we necessarily include natural gas as an input that enhances growth vectors", declares José Ediberto de Omena, CEO of Algás.

Over these 27 years of operation, Algás has grown significantly in the various segments in which it operates. In the residential segment, there are already more than 70,000 residential units contracted, in addition to the strong performance in the vehicular market, with 30 operational stations. In the commercial sector, the company has 712 establishments and in the industrial segment, 40 active customers.

The main factors responsible for all these results were, among other factors, the management model with bold goals, an engaged team and creative solutions. For José Ediberto, the company's future is promising. “From 2021 until the end of the gas distribution concession in the state, ending in 2043, Algás plans to invest around R $ 405 million and build 820 km of gas network in works such as the new Rio Largo - Messias Gas Pipeline ”, Emphasizes the CEO.
