French equipment manufacturer Alstom has signed a 320mn-euro (US$433mn) deal to supply 127 wind turbines to Brazil's Renova Energia
BNamericasThe units will be delivered by January 2018 for Renova's 356MW Umburanas wind complex in Brazil's northeastern state of Bahia, Alstom said in a statement.
Monday's announcement is part of an agreement struck between the two firms last year, in which Alstom committed to building 440 turbines with a minimum installed capacity of 1.5GW.
The original deal includes operation and maintenance contracts totaling 1bn euros.
The turbines, which will be the ECO 122, ECO 110 and ECO 100 models, will be built at Alstom's manufacturing plant in Camaçari, about 50km northeast of Bahia's capital Salvador.
Alstom says its Brazilian wind backlog has now reached 2.5GW.
