China's ambassador to Brazil, Li Jinzhang, accompanied by a delegation of about 20 Chinese businessmen, was welcomed by Port of Açu during a visit to the project last Friday (June 30). Following a first meeting, held in São Paulo in early June, the businessmen were "in loco" to check the potencies and business possibilities of the Açu Port Complex.

The entourage was received by the president of Prumo Logística, José Magela, and the directors Fernando Henrique Schuffner and Marcelo Veloso. At the meeting, Magela reinforced the benefits that both countries can have with the greater synergy between the Port and China.

"The Port Complex of Açu meets all the conditions to become the Port of China in Brazil. We have privileged location, available area and we can receive large vessels. China is one of the main strategic partners in Brazil, and I am sure that Açu Port can offer a lot of investment opportunities for Chinese companies, "Magela said.

During the visit, the entourage visited the terminals of Iron Ore (Ferroport), Petróleo (Açu Petróleo) and Multicargas (T-MULT), as well as the Industrial Park, where the companies are located in the Port Complex. One of the highlights of the meeting was the strategic location of the Açu Port for the O & G industry, as well as the company's ability to absorb large new industries, to receive large vessels and to handle various types of cargo such as oil, solid bulk In general and project load.

Another differential of the project addressed at the event is the development of an Export Processing Zone (ZPE), a free trade area, aimed at setting up companies with 80% of its export-oriented production. Installed in the Port backyard, ZPE will be an alternative for Chinese companies to settle in the Açu Port and to ship their products to the Americas.

The ambassador of China in Brazil spoke about the business opportunities that Port of Açu presents.

"We were very impressed with the size of the Port of Açu. The venture has advanced very fast compared to other ports in the world. Today's visit was important for us to strengthen our ties and discuss the possibilities of cooperation between Chinese companies and the Port Complex. I am sure we have potential for future business, "said Li Jinzhang.

Operational since October 2014, Port of Açu has already received about R$ 12 billion in investments made by Prumo and the companies that operate there.
