Angra 3 may have operation delayed due to contract reviews
More than two months after the result of the billion-reais bidding for the electromechanical assembly services of nuclear plant Angra 3, Eletronuclear, owner of the project, has not yet signed the contract with the winning consortia, which can affect the date for the beginning of the plant operation, in May 2018.
The delay is attributed to a decision of Eletrobras generation director, Valter Cardeal, who wanted to review the consortia’s proposal to try to reduce the cost of services. Highly regarded by President Dilma Rousseff, Mr. Cardeal has previously adopted a similar attitude with respect to contracts of Belo Monte Dam.
